DETERMINANTS OF FUTURE GRADUATES’ SELF-DEVELOPMENT

The article is concerned with characteristics of professional self-development among prospective university graduates. Personal and professional self-development is viewed as a holistic self-developing system based on activity self-transformation of a personality, caused by needs for self-transformation and personal growth aimed at achieving professionally significant objectives. The paper examines theoretical approaches to this problem, defines self-development determinants ensuring its success. Determinants impacting self-development include motivational, value-semantic, reflexive and regulatory factors. The paper draws on empirical study results of professional self-development determinants among prospective university graduates. Identified is the relationship between the level of self-development and a meaningfulness of life, motivational readiness for self-development and self-actualisation level. It is proved that level of self-development is also influenced by prospective graduates’ self-reflection.
