INTEGRATIVE POTENTIAL OF UNIVERSITY COURSE “HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN LITERARY LANGUAGE”

The course “History of Russian literary language” acquaints students with the evolution not only of old Russian and Russian literary speech, that is purely a linguistic aspect, but also with the so-called extra-linguistic facts and factors, namely domestic and international (Eurasian) history, the formation of the old Russian law, contacts with other States, the spread of Christianity, the development of old Russian and Russian literatures, the history of Russian culture (book publishing, the emergence of periodicals, theater, domestic and speech etiquette, fashion for Western European flavor, etc.). Essentially, it is a broad in methodological aspect University course, combining elements of linguistics, literary studies, history, cultural studies, Ethnography, law, and largely ideological subtexts. Illustrations such integrate structure of this course, for example, are: ideologically burning questions of the formation of the old Russian statehood, rights, contacts of Ancient Russia with Byzantine Empire, the Golden Horde; the strengthening of relations of Russia in the XVIII century with Western European countries and reorientation of the national elite on other cultural code, partly stimulated with polyethnicity of Russian superethnos; the destruction of this European cultural identity in the Soviet time; expansion of geopolitical influence of the Russian language in different periods (along with a natural adaptation of need voice resources from other languages); the role of Orthodoxy, foreign languages and other institutions in the history of Russian language, literature and etc. Accordingly, the requirements of the program, the content, methodology, system, information saturation, and the ideology relevance of this cour se are increased.
