The paper deals with problems of formation of a tolerant culture of children of primary school age which rise sharply on the fractures of the development of society, as they are linked with the abrupt change in requirements to the person from society. Russian child, the life-sustaining activity of which from the first months and years takes place in the family of a particular ethnic group, brought up within a predominantly national culture, and communication in the social environment and at school ensures communication with each culture is on the one hand, presents his/her uniqueness and individuality, and on the other hand, multicultural focus of his/her personality, his/her tolerance. Therefore, revisiting the problem of shaping tolerance in the conditions of multicultural Russia is, in our opinion, relevant and a progressive trend with socio-cultural and political significance, because in multicultural conditions the special importance acquires the task of consolidation of the society based on tolerance values, willingness to protect the interests of the individual child and society in general. Cultural institutions, along with instilling the person feelings of national pride, unity, patriotism, love of country must prevent the person from any sense of nationalism, the idea of the superiority of their nation, religion, personality over the other, which lead ultimately to national, religious, interpersonal hostility and wars. Thus, one of the most important tasks of modern cultural institutions is to educate the younger student’s tolerance as a personality. Invaluable assistance in achieving the objectives of shaping tolerant relations can be provided by artistic and creative activity, implemented by the cultural institutions. It is a unique tool of spiritual influence on the child’s personality, strength, enhancing their aspirations and feelings, rich potential of samples of building humane relationships and the application of creativ e abilities of children.
