GROWING COMPETENCES IN PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION IN CARTOGRAPHICAL AND GEOINFORMATION BACHELOR PROGRAMME

The paper is concerned with current aspects of the growing of competences in professional education based on bachelor degree programme "Cartography and Geoinformatics". Essential descriptions of competence-based approach and possible mechanisms of mastering common cultural and professional competences are analysed. It is emphasized that implementation of a competence-based component of the corresponding Federal state educational standard defines success of the process of realization of the main educational programme. The priority of the development of information competence among students and teaching staff in the solution of the problems of increasing informational culture level of participants of the educational process and realization of competence-based approach as a whole is accounted for. Features improving professional skill, independent updating of professional knowledge and abilities, growing of competences are illustrated by a graduation thesis in “Cartography”, carried out with the use of specialised ERDAS IMAGINE 9.1 and GIS Arc View 3.2 software.
