I. A. Yermoshina
(Ogarev Mordovia State University, Saransk, Russia)
The paper explores the specifics of pedagogical system of the Arzamas painting school founded by A. V. Stupin. Stupin’s school represents a school with a firm, methodically developed programme of training, preparing real artists and giving a rather broad vocational training. The main feature of the school was that the academic model of the artistic education which has been consistently realized, despite the difficulties caused by conditions of a country town, was combined with lines of a traditional “craft” way of preparation of the artist in a workshop. Stages of the school’s evolvement are describes. The author carries out a comparative analysis of teaching special disciplines by A. V. Stupin and R. A. Stupin. Being one of the first educational institutions of artistic education, Stupin’s school played an important role in developing and further distribution of artistic education in the Russian province in the XIX century.
