The article gives a short description of an academic discipline “Safety of Living”, its role and importance in training students are shown. It is noted that saturation of the considered discipline with social perspective, according to present-day social processes and crises, is especially topical for students of humanitarian specialties. However, in the course of education it is also necessary to focus them on progressive complication of life connected with its technicalisation. It is shown that teaching of “Safety of living” lacks a number of important modules and subjects. Moreover, structural components are often interrelated insufficiently, including, target and substantial parts. Often a teacher has to work according to a fragmentary schedule, without having an accurate substantial reference point for a totality of the interconnected modules. It impairs quality and practical effect from studying of the discipline. The authors propose an updated content list of this educational subject meant for humanitarian specialties. It is composed from the following main sections: studying of society and social development laws in order to detect possible dangers for various systems; disclosure of mechanisms of an origin and development of the dangers arising on a social basis; defining of the principles and technologies to protect systems of all types from dangers of social character; training of graduates for safe daily activity in technical, natural, soc ial systems with a glance of their interrelation.

Keywords: danger, safety, activity; educational subject “Safety of Living”; students studying humanities, future experts of a humanitarian field of activity; teaching; c ontents and curriculum methodology support
