The article considers the necessity for improvement of psychological training among prospective specia-lists in consumer cooperation. The everyday activity of most specialists, especially in the sphere of consumer cooperation, is connected with the constant contacts with people. Consequently, one of the main aspects of professional activity is communication. The psychological training of future specialists is an important component of professionalism. At the time of high school entrance, students already have rich enough everyday psychological experience. Everyday psychological concepts are characterized by а variety of features which should be taken into account in choosing psychological training methods. The existing system of psychological education at this stage is oriented mainly on the formation of student’s knowledge. The future professionals really need it, but knowledge is not sufficient to solve many of professional tasks. Many researchers point out that the methods of teaching of psychology must be directed not only on the formation of scientific psychological concepts, but also on correction of existing student’s everyday concepts. The key task of psychological training in higher high school is the formation of psychological culture of a specialist. Researchers consider the psychological culture as an integrative qual- ity of a personality. The article describes the basic components of psychological fitness of a specialist: general psychological preparedness, moral, psychological, professional techniques. The authors identify the obstacles blocking the formation of psychological competence of students. A university which forms a competitive specialist needs a psycho-pedagogical and developing technologies that provide personal and professional development for students, teachers and managers. The fundamentally different important direction now is teacher’s psychological training in the system of professional training in higher schools, which is different in content and form. Higher school teacher must be able not only to solve the subject and professional education problems – he must possess the technologies of intellectual, social and personal development for future professionals.
