The paper is concerned with acmelogical and competence-based aspects of higher education in the conditions of modern information society. The authors explore the necessity for furthering information competence as the defining subcompetence of subjects of education manifesting in the level of teachers’ and students’ information culture, in the degree of acquisition of information education area. Professional and educational activity is associated with realisation of the acmeological approach aimed at successful self-development, self-improvement, self-determination of graduates of the university. Acmeological support of the educational process assumes that the teacher in their professional work maximally fulfill their own creative potential and promotes individuality, originality and uniqueness of the personality of each student.The intensification of development of productive competence of subjects of education and realisation of competence-based and acmeological approaches in their organic interrelation can serve a criterion of productive modernisation of the Russian education. For the practical realisation of such interrelation the competence-based component of the Federal state educational standard of higher education the bachelor degree programme 05.03.03 “Cartography and geo informatics” is analyzed. In determining the optimal compatibility and unity of the competence-based and acmeological approaches in the study of information and educational area their philosophical significance is considered, reflecting the social attitudes of the subjects of study as carriers of social consciousness. The author’s technology of experimental research in acmeological factors of prospective graduates’ self-promotion, self-determination is composed of a system of methods, techniques and ways of self-development of students in joint subject-to-subject educational interaction is given a thorough account.
